The Fantastic Four are classic Marvel characters and even though Marvel movies seem to be a license to print money nowadays, Fox just can’t seem to get the Fantastic Four right. Three times now the Fantastic Four have starred in their own feature film, but the films haven’t exactly knocked it out of the park.

The last reboot was heavily panned by fans and critics alike, and it was a box office disaster. “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” and “X-Men: First Class” director Matthew Vaughn worked as a producer on the reboot, and he recently told CinemaBlend that he feels an obligation to make a new Fantastic Four film to apologize to the fans.

“The other one I’ve felt an obligation to do is, I wouldn’t mind maybe making a Fantastic Four film to apologize to everyone out there that maybe it didn’t go very well for them. It’s brilliant. One of my favorites is the Fantastic Four, so maybe one day I’ll try and rectify the mistake.”

Originally Fox had plans for a sequel to “Fantastic Four” but after the film bombed at the box office it was quietly removed from the release schedule.

The future of the franchise remains a mystery, but it seems that Matthew Vaughn is willing to step up and steer the ship.
