“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is set to hit theaters next month, and the wall-crawler has been a hot topic ever since he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As soon as Marvel and Sony announced their plans to share Spider-Man, fans immediately began to wonder which other Spider-man characters we could end up seeing in the MCU.

Sony recently announced plans for a Venom standalone film, and they showed the world that they’re serious about the movie when the studio cast Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock.

Spider-Man is a pretty essential character when it comes to the Venom legacy, but Sony has said that the Venom film will exist in its own world, which obviously disappointed fans.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed once again during a Facebook live video with AlloCine that there are no plans for Venom to join the MCU.

“For now, there is no plan for Venom in the MCU,” Feige said. “It’s a Sony Project.”

Hopefully Sony will change their mind about integrating Venom into the MCU in the future, but that might prove to be difficult depending on how the character’s first standalone film turns out.

You can catch Spider-Man in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” on July 7, 2017, and you can catch Venom on the big screen in 2018.
