Fans are still arguing over “The Last Jedi” as the release date for “Solo: A Star Wars Story” quickly approaches, but fans are also looking ahead to see what JJ Abrams is going to do with “Star Wars: Episode IX.”

The new films are slowly phasing out the old characters, but fans got to see an iconic character in “The Last Jedi” when Yoda returned as a force ghost, and we may not have seen the last of him.

The New York Daily News is reporting that an insider has informed them there are plans for Yoda to appear in “Episode IX.”

“The success of the scenes featuring Yoda in ‘The Last Jedi’ were huge,” the insider claims. “Yoda will again appear as a ghost as he acknowledges Rey’s success and growth as a Jedi. The scenes are due to be put together later this year.”

Following Yoda’s scenes with Luke in “The Last Jedi” on has to imagine that a potential scene with Rey could be a lot of fun.

Who will and won’t return aren’t the only questions fans are asking though, as Simon Pegg recently said that JJ Abrams originally had different plans for the reveal regarding Rey’s parents. But only time will tell if he follows the path that Rian Johnson laid out with the last film, or if he will go back to his original plan.

“Star Wars: Episode IX” will be released on December 20, 2019.
