The Latest On Spider-Man’s Rumored Cameo In Tom Hardy’s Venom Movie

Tom Hardy is hard at work filming “Venom” at the moment, and excitement for the film seems to be building as more details and photos from the set are surfacing online.

One thing that has always been in question in regards to Sony’s “Venom” film is whether or not Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be appearing in the film. Sony exec Amy Pascal caused quite the stir last summer when she was asked if the Spider-Man Universe films that the studio is developing will feature Spider-Man and she said the following:

“Those movies will all take place in the world we’re now creating for Peter Parker. They’ll be adjunct to it, they may be different locations, but it will still all be in the same world, and they will be connected to each other as well.”

Her response gave birth to many hilarious Kevin Feige memes, but the film seems to be in a weird spot where Spider-Man is in play, but “Venom” isn’t directly involved with the MCU.

Sony is currently in control of the film rights to Spider-Man after all, so they can do what they want with the character. Luckily they’ve been happy to play nice with Marvel Studios by adding Spidey to the MCU, but only time will tell if the studio will share the character for the long haul.

One way or another, there are many fans out there who feel that you can’t have Venom without Spider-Man and it’s been rumored that he may appear in the film.

However, Jon Schnepp of Collider recently noted that Tom Holland has filmed scenes for a cameo, but apparently he didn’t suit up.

“Tom Holland was on set filming scenes on Venom for at least two days as Peter Parker. Okay, so I’m not saying Spider-Man is in the film. When I say Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is in the film, I’m saying Peter Parker is in the film. This is a cameo. I don’t know what it is. I didn’t read the script.”

Spider-Man is obviously a huge part of Venom’s origin story, so it’s hard to imagine Venom existing in a world without Spidey.

How Tom Hardy gets the symbiote will obviously have to be explained, but Schnepp also noted that he has secrets that he’s not sharing.

“This will be Marvel-adjacent. This isn’t a spoiler, I have a ton of information on Infinity War which I will never share. I think it is important for Spider-Man fans to know that Spider-Man or Peter Parker will be in Venom.”

Sony obviously has a lot riding on “Venom” in regards to their Spider-Man film universe, and a Tom Holland cameo will undoubtedly help. How everything will unfold remains to be seen, but it’s definitely an exciting time to be a Spider-Man fan.
