Joss Whedon has become quite a controversial figure on social media as of late now that “Justice League” has been released. Fans have been arguing over whether Whedon helped or hurt the film, and a petition for Warner Bros. to release Zack Snyder’s cut of “Justice League” recently reached 100,000 signatures.

Whedon recently created even more controversy when he liked a negative tweet criticizing the film’s villain on Twitter. There’s also been a rumored circulating claiming that Whedon had been quietly removed from the upcoming Batgirl film, but it seems that’s not the case.

EW is reporting that sources close to the situation say Joss Whedon is still set to direct the movie, and he’s currently working on the script. Of course things could change before production kicks off, but as of right now Joss is still attached to the film.

As of right now not much is known at this point, but Joss did note a few months ago that he doesn’t have his eye on anyone in particular for the role.

“I don’t have my eye on anybody. I feel like I’m creating this character, I’m in a dialogue with her and then we’ll see who joins that later on. I doubt it will be a name. I think it’s just something where you go and find Batgirl then you cast her.”
