Last summer “X-Men: Apocalypse” hit theaters, and throughout the film there were a few hints that the Phoenix Saga may be incorporated into upcoming films. Well, that’s exactly where Fox is headed with the next installment in the franchise which is titled “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.”

Fox is putting all of the pieces in place, and it looks live they’ve locked in some of the key cast members for the film.

Deadline reports that Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender will all be reprising their roles in the film. Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee have also been confirmed.

Longtime X-Men producer Simon Kinberg will be making his directorial debut, as he’s set to sit at the helm for “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.”

Jessica Chastain is also reportedly in talks to join the film as Shi’ar Empress Lilandra.

It should be interesting to see how things play out, as “Apocalypse” wasn’t exactly well received. However, with Bryan Singer out of the director’s chair, and Fox’s plans to go cosmic with the X-Men, the franchise could potentially be moving in an interesting direction.

“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” will hit theaters on November 2, 2018.
