Hugh Jackman Reacts To Disney Possibly Buying Fox

Right now everyone’s talking about the possibility of Disney acquiring Fox’s movie and television studios and picking up the film rights to characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

All reports indicate that the deal is very close to becoming a reality, and if it does happen it means we’ll more than likely be seeing the X-Men in the MCU sooner than later.

With all this talk of the X-Men possibly joining the MCU going around, rumors of Hugh Jackman’s returning have been running rampant, but during a recent interview with Collider he said that the ship has sailed and he wants to see someone new in the role.

“It’s interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head. But it was like, “Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,” and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously — I was like, “Hang on!” But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there.”

The timing of the impending deal seems to be perfect for Marvel as the MCU is gearing up to close out its first 10 years and will undoubtedly need more characters in order to keep things fresh.

However, the deal seems to come at a less than perfect time for Hugh Jackman as he retired from the role earlier this year, and he went out on a high note with “Logan.”

It’s a shame that we won’t be seeing more of Jackman’s Wolverine on the big screen, but if the X-Men do join the MCU, it seems unlikely that Marvel Studios will let the Wolverine role stay vacant for very long.
