Captain America: Civil War Concept Art Shows Alternate Look For Spider-Man’s Suit

It seems like it was just yesterday that fans were rejoicing when Marvel announced they had reached an agreement with Sony to share Spider-Man, but now it’s been almost two years since he debuted in the MCU, and he’s a fully integrated part of the universe.

Spider-Man has shown off some cool looks in the MCU so far from his homemade suit, to the Stark suit and of course the new suit he’ll be wearing in “Avengers: Infinity War.”

But before the final decisions were made on Spidey’s look, there were some alternate suits that were proposed.

Artist Ryan Meinerding recently shared some concept art from “Captain Amerca: Civil War” which shows a suit that’s much more reminiscent of the one Ben Reilly wore when he took over.

Ryan posted the following:

“So because I can’t show any new artwork right now and apparently because everyone is digging the unused Valkyrie and unused Hulk hair styles, here is a unused Spider-Man design. This was done for Civil War, which seems forever ago now. This design pass is inspired by the Ben Reilly costume which was originally designed by the awesome @officialmarkbagleyart for the comics! It’s fun trying out different size spiders and playing with the web designs when I’m designing Spidey suits for the MCU. Head over to my Twitter where I’ll have the full suit uploaded”

Obviously Marvel decided to go in a different direction, but it’s still fun to look at what could have been.

“Spider-Man” will return to the big screen in “Avengers: Infinity War” which will arrive in theaters on May 4, 2018.
