Fans have been dying to known when Ben Affleck is going to make a move on his standalone Batman film, and it looks like the movie could go into production sooner rather than later.

Variety caught up with Ben Affleck at a screening of “Live By Night” in New York on Tuesday night, and according to their report Affleck indicated that he expects to start filming his Batman film in the spring of 2017.

“We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together,” he said. “We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”

It’s already been confirmed that Deathstroke will be played by Joe Manganiello, and it’s also rumored other villains may appear in the film.

Ben Affleck has been saying for months now that he didn’t want to move forward with his Batman film until the script was right, indicating that he has great respect for the character. Affleck also reiterated during the screening that he respects all of the live action Batman interpretations that have come before his.

“I respect all of those [Batman] movies,” he said. “Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me.”
