“Arrow” is on a little break at the moment, but there’s plenty to talk about before the show returns.

The midseason finale ended with a huge moment as Oliver Queen walked into the bunker to see someone standing there. The person then turned around, and she was revealed to be Laurel Lance. After the big reveal Laurel said, “hi Ollie” then the episode ended.

When it comes to cliffhangers that’s a pretty good one, and it has set up one heck of a mystery for the second half of season 5. Although it sounds like the mystery surrounding Laurel’s return will take some time to unravel, the CW has released a new clip from the “Arrow” midseason premiere exclusively on the CW app that reveals some new details about where season 5 is headed.

Diggle has been on the run since Oliver broke him out of military prison, and in the “Arrow” midseason finale, Diggle was captured and he is once again in prison. In the clip Oliver goes to visit Diggle in prison, and he talks about Laurel’s return.

“I walked into the bunker and she was just there, like nothing had happened. Like it was some kind of gift.”

He goes on to tell Diggle that he hasn’t told Laurel everything about Prometheus, or that he killed his father, and that he’s “easing her in.”

In the season finale we learned that Oliver killed Justin Clayborne, the father of Prometheus in season 1. In the new clip Oliver tells Diggle that Lyla and Felicity are currently searching for the mother of Prometheus in hopes that they can uncover more clues about his identity.

When asked if Oliver has found the “dude” who trained him and Prometheus. Oliver tells Diggle that the “dude” is actually a woman, and she doesn’t stay in one spot for very long, but he’s trying to find her.

It’s already been confirmed that Talia al Ghul will be joining “Arrow” in episode 10 of season 5, so it seems like that the “she” in question is Talia. Stephen Amell recently said during an interview that Lexa Doig’s Talia al Ghul will be a “gateway to really accelerating the flashback storyline.”

In regards to what fans can expect from Laurel Lance going forward, TV Line’s Michael Ausiello and Matt Mitovich recently talked a little bit about her return in a Facebook live video, and according to them it will have a big emotional impact on not just Oliver, but Felicity as well.

“Laurels return will be a 9 on the emotional scale, that’s what Wendy Mericle told me. She said to me specifically that the Laurel storyline, or should we say “Laurel” —depends on what you believe.”

“That storyline, as a whole, will have an emotional resonance for not just Oliver, but Oliver and Felicity. Felicity, actually, is going to be the biggest skeptic about Laurel while Oliver is little bit more into seeing his old friend again, under whatever circumstances he thinks she came back.”

Right now fans are searching for answers in regards to how Laurel Lance returned. Some people believe she may be Black Siren from Earth-2, others believe she may have found her way into a Lazarus Pit somehow. However, back in October during an interview with TV Guide, executive producer Wendy Mericle teased that Laurel’s return might have something to do with Flashpoint.

“I can tell you that we’re really excited about having her back. You will see in the episodes where she appears – Episode 510 definitely, our midseason premiere. Keep your eyes out for that. We’re so excited about getting to work with her again and her willingness to come back. It’s one of the fun parts of the show. People can leave and get killed and you can still find new and crazy ways for them to come back. I can definitely tell you that there’s a way we’re going to bring her back and she’s going to be alive and well. And Flashpoint might have a little bit to do with that.”

It sounds like the midseason premiere will be an episode to remember, and there are still plenty of episodes left when it comes to “Arrow” season 5. Marc Guggenheim also recently revealed on Twitter that episode 14 of season 5 will be titled “The Sin-Eater.”

“Arrow” will return on January 25, 2017.
