Asa Butterfield Reportedly Out Of The Running For Spider-Man, Casting Down To Three Names

After a lot of rumors have circulated saying Asa Butterfield basically has the role of Spider-Man in the bag, The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider dropped a bomb during Meet the Movie Press Live. He’s saying that Asa is now completey out of the running for Peter Parker.

See what he had to say below:

“I heard earlier this week, you know, in calling around about the short list, those six actors that THR had mentioned, I learned that they had narrowed it down to three. And those three, from what I had heard, were Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer, and Matthew Lintz. Not Asa Butterfield. I hear that Asa Butterfield is no longer in contention for Spider-Man.

Here’s the way it was sort of described to me… Marvel likes Charlie Plummer, Sony likes Tom Holland, and I still think Amy Pascal wants Nat Wolff or whatever. Either way, the reason that you haven’t seen a decision yet is they seem to be at odds, Marvel and Sony.”

According to him it’s down to Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer, and Matthew Lintz. Either way, Marvel and Sony are running out of time so they need to make a casting announcement sooner than later if Spidey is going to appear in “Captain America: Civil War” which he’s expected to.
