Anthony Mackie Doesn’t Think The MCU Needs A New Captain America

There was a lot of talk over the weekend at Salt Lake City Comic Con about the mantle of Captain America possibly being passed to Sebastian Stan or Anthony Mackie. Although Stan seems to be interested in the idea, Anthony Mackie is singing a different tune. Mackie doesn’t feel like he wants to see himself or Sebastian Stan take on the role of Captain America.

“I don’t think we need a new Cap. I don’t think Cap needs to change. I think [Bucky’s actor Sebastian Stan] would be a great Cap, but then we’re left without Bucky. I think I’d be a great Cap, but then we’re left without a Falcon.” Mackie said.

He makes a good point. If you lose Chris Evans as Captain America and put someone else in his place, you really end up losing two characters. It will be interesting to see what Marvel does with the role of Captain America in the MCU as there has obviously been some foreshadowing throughout the Captain America films with Bucky holding Cap’s shield.

As for Anthony Mackie, he’s happy so long as he can challenge people to push up battles during Comic Con panels.
