What Reportedly Went Wrong With The Jason Statham – Marvel Negotiations

You probably heard the rumors. A few days ago Latino Review was reporting that Jason Statham had been talking to Marvel about playing Bullseye in season 2 of “Daredevil.” Then yesterday during an interview, Statham took a shot at Marvel movies saying:

“I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and they’ll put her on a green screen and they’ll have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. They’re relying on stunt doubles, and green screen, and $200 million budgets, it’s all CGI created. To me, it’s not authentic.” Statham told Italian website i400calci.

So where did things go wrong between Statham and Marvel? Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Statham and Marvel were deep into negotiations but when the information leaked to the Internet, it stopped the deal before it ever had the chance to be made.

“Long story short?  He was legitimately in heavy negotiations for the role and the leak killed it.  Perhaps his agent saw the positive uproar and instantly upped the actor’s asking fee?  Perhaps the studio spotted the same excited reaction and preemptively killed the deal out of fear of Statham’s management going for more money?  Who knows.  The bottom line is that yesterday the Crank star was at the top of the list and deep in negotiations and today Marvel has moved on to other pastures.”

That’s really a shame because Jason Statham would have been an excellent addition to the show. In any case, “Daredevil” season 2 will begin filming next month so we should expect a Bullseye casting announcement sometime in the next few weeks.
