There were some rumors making the rounds a few weeks ago saying that Channing Tatum was looking to drop out of “Gambit.” But that all seems to have been settled. Now that Tatum is back on board the powers that be are looking for their female lead and they’re looking for someone to play Bella Donna Boudreaux.
Remy Lebeau And Bella Donna grew up together and became friends despite the fact that they were from rival Guilds. An arranged marriage was put together by their families in hopes that it would unite the Guilds. Gambit was then challenged to a fight to the death by Bella’s brother who he killed which caused him to be exiled from New Orleans and he then left Bella behind.
As of right now it looks like the three women on the short list for the role are Abbey Lee Kershaw (Mad Max), Lea Seydoux (Spectre) and Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation). No word yet on who the studio is leaning toward but it’s likely we’ll have an official announcement sooner than later as filming is supposed to start this fall.
