There’s no denying that season 3 didn’t have as much humor as the previous seasons, but the cast recently told EW that they’re ready to get back to business as usual in season 4.

“I think it’s safe to say, nothing against anything, it was the least fun season, too, because it was so heavy,” said Grant Gustin at Comic Con. “You can feel it in your belly when you went home. You were affected by the storyline. I was, at least. The job’s more fun when we’re goofing around on set.”

Executive producer Todd Helbing also assured the cast, and the fans that season 4 will be lighter than season 3.

“I think that’s as dark as we ever want to take the show, and we’re making a conscious effort this year to get the fun quotient back up,” said Helbing.

“It’s The Flash; it should be fun,” added Gustin.

This time around Team Flash won’t have to worry about another speedster, as it’s been confirmed that the team will be taking on Clifford DeVoe, aka The Thinker.

“The Flash” will return on Tuesday, October 10.

After defeating Savitar, Barry turned his back on the villain and then walked away, and Savitar made one last attempt to vanquish Barry, but before he could get to him, he was stopped by a bullet to the back of the head. It was then revealed that it was Iris who pulled the trigger, and after almost a full season of Barry trying to save Iris from Savitar, in the end it was Iris who saved Barry.

Candice Patton recently spoke to CinemaBlend about Iris West’s big moment, and she said that she thought it was empowering that Iris was able to be the one to bring down Savitar.

“I remember Andrew Kreisberg coming to me and telling me how it would all kind of go down in the end, and I remember saying to him: ‘That is so cool. Young girls and young boys everywhere are going to be thrilled with her being the one to kind of take that final shot at Savitar.’ . . . It’s empowering, it’s empowering that Iris, whose kinda been this damsel [in distress] all season and kind of struggled with Savitar looming over her, she’s the one that has the final say in his last breath.”

TV Line recently spoke to several producers of shows such as “Arrow” and “Supergirl” and they also got the scoop on “The Flash” season 3 finale. According to the preview, Team Flash will be engaging in a final, epic battle with Savitar, and the season finale will end with a big cliffhanger.

“After discovering Savitar’s true identity, Team Flash prepares for a final, epic battle with the God of Speed… while struggling with a major setback. Expect a season-ending cliffhanger that will leave viewers — and the heroes — questioning how they will move forward in Season 4.”

It just wouldn’t be a season finale of “The Flash” without a cliffhanger now would it? If you’ve been following along so far then you’re probably well aware that the first two seasons featured cliffhanger endings that kept fans guessing all summer long. So, it should be interesting to see to see how the show raises the stakes this year.

“The Once And Future Flash” looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the most important episodes of the season, and the episode was also directed by “The Flash” star Tom Cavanagh who currently plays H.R. Wells.

Barry has been making a lot of mistakes as he attempts to save Iris West’s life and he recently decided that they needed to take some time away from each other. During the “Arrowverse” panel at PaleyFest over the weekend, Candice Patton talked about their romantic relationship and where she thinks it’s going (via Rotten Tomatoes).

“I think for Barry and Iris there’s always a way to come back,” she said. “They are really and truly each other’s true loves. They just have to get on the same page and stick with it.”

This week “The Flash” will crossover with “Supergirl” for a musical episode and co-showrunner Todd Helbing noted that we’ll get more insight into what the future holds for Barry and Iris by the time the episode ends.

“You’ll see at the end of the musical where Iris and Barry are,” Helbing said. “It sort of kickstarts the last six episodes. There’s another episode further down the line were Barry does something to get a key piece of information to help them, and that really snowballs into the last couple episodes.”

Barry’s decisions seem to be coming back to bite him, and it’s obvious that he’s been motivated by fear. If he truly does want to see things clearer, then he’s going to have to look in the mirror and make a change.

Grant Gustin commented on the backlash during a panel at PaleyFest and he says he agrees with the viewers.

“The Flash” commonly features guest appearances from other characters in the “Arrowverse” and at this point nearly every DC character on the CW has appeared on the show. One character who Barry Allen seemed to have great chemistry with is Ray Palmer, aka The Atom, and Grant Gustin also revealed that Brandon Routh is someone he would like to work with more in the future.

On the most recent episode of “The Flash” Barry and company went to go pay Dr. Alchemy a visit, and just as it looked like they were going to apprehend him, something went very wrong. A new speedster appeared and pinned Barry Allen against the ceiling and declared that he is Savitar, the God of Speed.

The streak took out the task force, and then it set its sights on Barry Allen. Barry chased this unknown streak around the room as everyone else looked around in confusion. At the end of the episode Barry was shoved up agains the ceiling, and it was revealed that the streak was Savitar, the God of Speed. Savitar then busted out a blade and prepared to attack Barry Allen, then the episode ended.

Eventually Team Flash decided it would be best if Wally followed the voices, that way he would be able to lead them to Dr. Alchemy. Joe West put a task force together, and they accompanied Wally West and The Flash as they searched for Dr. Alchemy.

Once they arrived at Dr. Alchemy’s lair, Wally confronted Alchemy, and Alchemy told him he could have anything he wants. Wally told him that he wants him gone, and then he attacked one of Alchemy’s druids. The task force and The Flash surrounded Alchemy as he got down on his knees.

As Alchemy appeared to be surrendering, a blue streak appeared in the room and started attacking members of the Central City Police Department. Barry told Joe and Wally to leave as he chased the streak.

As Barry was chasing the streak, Dr. Alchemy’s gem was calling to Wally West. Wally then touched the gem and turned into a cocoon.

Barry was then thrown up against a wall, and a speedster appeared. Barry questioned him, and he told Barry that he’s Savitar, the God of Speed. You can check out a picture of Savitar below.

So far Dr. Alchemy’s identity has been a mystery, but luckily we won’t have to wait an entire season to find out who’s under the mask. Previously “The Flash” kept fans guessing almost until the end of seasons 1 and 2 in regards to the identities of Reverse-Flash and Zoom. However, Greg Berlanti recently spoke to EW, and he revealed that in the midseason finale of “The Flash” Alchemy will be revealed.

“You’ll find out who Alchemy is,” Berlanti told EW in reference to the midseason finale.

Dr. Alchemy is far from the only villain to be involved with “The Flash” season 3. Fans are still awaiting the arrival of Savitar, and his arrival is coming sooner rather than later.

“People will have seen him before the crossovers,” Greg Berlanti revealed. “He appears in episodes 6 and 7.”

“The Flash” airs Tuesday nights on the CW.
