The members of Team Flash will be getting back to business when season 4 begins, and they’ll be taking down the most dangerous metahumans that Central City has to offer. But, they will also be spending their time trying to figure out a way to free Barry Allen from his Speed Force prison.

It seems obvious that Barry will be returning at some point, but his return has not been officially confirmed.

The cast of “The Flash” sat down with TVLine for a group interview at Comic Con, and Grant Gustin did confirm that Barry Allen will be getting out of the Speed Force, and he also teased that he won’t be the same Barry when he gets out.

“Time in the Speed Force is kind like non-linear. I think everything is kind of happening at once, so it’s probably a pretty overwhelming experience, and he’s probably getting a little scrambled. So, who really knows? I don’t think he’ll be the same Barry necessarily when he gets out.”

“The Flash” will return on Tuesday, October 10.

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed forever when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark-matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive — The Flash. But when Barry used his extraordinary abilities to travel back in time and save his mother’s life, he inadvertently created an alternate timeline known as Flashpoint; a phenomenon that gave birth to the villainous speed god known as Savitar, and changed the lives of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Wally West (Keiyan Lonsdale) forever.

With the help of his adoptive father, Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), his lifelong best friend and love interest Iris West (Candice Patton), and his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs — Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), C.S.I Julian Albert (Tom Felton), and an Earth-19 novelist named H.R. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) — Barry continues to protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans that threaten it.

There’s no denying that season 3 didn’t have as much humor as the previous seasons, but the cast recently told EW that they’re ready to get back to business as usual in season 4.

“I think it’s safe to say, nothing against anything, it was the least fun season, too, because it was so heavy,” said Grant Gustin at Comic Con. “You can feel it in your belly when you went home. You were affected by the storyline. I was, at least. The job’s more fun when we’re goofing around on set.”

Executive producer Todd Helbing also assured the cast, and the fans that season 4 will be lighter than season 3.

“I think that’s as dark as we ever want to take the show, and we’re making a conscious effort this year to get the fun quotient back up,” said Helbing.

“It’s The Flash; it should be fun,” added Gustin.

This time around Team Flash won’t have to worry about another speedster, as it’s been confirmed that the team will be taking on Clifford DeVoe, aka The Thinker.

“The Flash” will return on Tuesday, October 10.

Barry’s decisions seem to be coming back to bite him, and it’s obvious that he’s been motivated by fear. If he truly does want to see things clearer, then he’s going to have to look in the mirror and make a change.

Grant Gustin commented on the backlash during a panel at PaleyFest and he says he agrees with the viewers.

“The Flash” commonly features guest appearances from other characters in the “Arrowverse” and at this point nearly every DC character on the CW has appeared on the show. One character who Barry Allen seemed to have great chemistry with is Ray Palmer, aka The Atom, and Grant Gustin also revealed that Brandon Routh is someone he would like to work with more in the future.

We already know that there will be a big confrontation between Barry Allen and Savitar when the big bad tries to kill Iris at the end of the season, but it doesn’t seem like we’re getting any close to finding out who he is. TV Line recently spoke to Danielle Panabaker, and according to Killer Frost herself, the show is going to make us wait a while longer.

“Slowly, different characters are going to learn who Savitar is,” Danielle Panabaker revealed. “But I don’t know if the audience is going to be told anytime soon.”

This is the third year in a row that “The Flash” has relied on a villain’s true identity to carry the story arc of the season. In season 1 we learned that Reverse-Flash was actually Eobard Thawne inhabiting the body of Harrison Wells, and in season 2 we learned that Jay Garrick was actually named Hunter Zolomon, and he was the man under the Zoom mask.

The first two reveals played out slowly, but there were little hints along the way. This time it’s been a lot harder to figure out, and according to Grant Gustin, it will be an “Oh. My. God!” moment when Savitar’s identity is revealed.

“It’s not the same as past reveals,” Gustin said. “With Zoom and Reverse-Flash, the audience was starting to realize things before we all started to piece it together. But I don’t know how you would know this year. And when you do find out, it’s like, ‘Oh. My. God!’ There are really no secrets or hints leading up to to it.”

“The Flash will return on Tuesday, March 21st with “Duet.”

However, one of the costumes that hasn’t changed in a while is Barry Allen’s. The Flash got a minot alteration when the emblem on his chest was changed after the show jumped from season 1 to season 2. But since then the suit has been mostly the same.

Grant Gustin noted on Twitter that he thinks it’s time for The Flash to get a new suit.

Following the intense winter finale, “The Flash” is currently on a break right now, but the show will return in January with new episodes and new adventures.

“The Flash” will return for season 3 in October and following the events of the season 2 finale, things are going to look different. Barry Allen went back in time and saved his mother from being killed at the end of season 2, and he will be living in a new “Flashpoint” universe that he created.

Both of Barry’s parents will be alive when the show returns, and his relationships with character such as Joe and Iris West will not be the same as they were. The CW has released a new synopsis for the season premiere and it teases that Barry will have to make a choice as to whether or not he wants to stay in the universe he created, or return to his universe.

The synopsis for “Flashpoint” reads as follows.

WHAT WOULD YOU SACRIFICE TO HAVE EVERYTHING YOU’VE EVER WANTED? — Barry (Grant Gustin) is living his dream life – his parents are alive, he’s asked Iris West (Candice Patton) on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse Flash (guest star Matt Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash.

“The Flash” will return on Tuesday, October 4.

Grant Gustin is the latest member of the cast to share something with the fans, and earlier today he revealed the title for the 5th episode of season 3.

Gustin shared a picture of the script on Twitter and it revealed that the episode will be titled “Monster.” Luckily, that’s not all the picture revealed.

The picture also revealed that the episode was written by none other than Zack Stentz.

Stentz of course teamed up with Kevin Smith last season to create “The Runaway Dinosaur” which proved to be one of the more memorable episodes of the season. He’s also known for his work on films such as “X-Men: First Class” and “Thor.”

Joe adopted Barry fifteen years ago after Barry’s mother was murdered and Barry’s father, Henry Allen, received a life sentence for the crime – though Barry always maintained that a mysterious “Man in Yellow” was responsible. Then the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with superspeed and making him the fastest man alive. But Barry wasn’t the only person who was given extraordinary abilities that night. The dark matter also created meta-humans, many of whom have wreaked havoc with their powers on the city. With the help of his scientist friends at S.T.A.R Labs, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), and Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanaugh), Barry began a journey as The Flash to protect the people of Central City from these powerful new threats. Thanks to his actions in the season 2 finale a new timeline has been created and the new timeline will create new memories for Barry. Grant Gustin recently spoke to DC All Access and he talked a little bit about the new timeline and he revealed that Barry’s memories won’t be the only thing he’ll be forgetting.

“In the same sense that he’s forgetting his memories, that means he’s forgetting his powers too. It’s like he’s having a ‘Back to the Future’ moment where his hand is disappearing in front of him.”

Since Barry created the new timeline by preventing the Reverse-Flash from killing his mother, he will be the only one who knows that it’s different.

According to Grant Gustin, eventually Barry will realize that his decision to save his mother was a very selfish decision.

“Barry is the only one that knows the timeline is different and his memories are starting to get replaced from the previous timeline with new memories, like graduating high school graduating college, moments with his family. When he realizes those memories are replacing other memories that’s when he starts to realize how selfish of a decision this was, and that maybe he should try to put things back the way they were.”

“The Flash” will return for season 3 on Tuesday, October 4th.

The world of “Flashpoint” will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen on the show before and although it will have a huge impact on season 3, Grant Gustin recently confirmed that “Flashpoint” won’t last for the entire season.

“There will be ramifications all season long from ‘Flashpoint,” Gusting told Kevin Smith who was interviewing him for IMDB “I think we can state… ‘Flashpoint’ does not last all season long,” he added. “But there are permanent ramifications.”

Grant Gustin also went into detail about what motived Barry to change the timeline after his final battle with Zoom.

“People were like, ‘Why did he do that?’ And I think that he wasn’t going to do that, but I think that sitting on that porch, having just defeated Zoom, Iris says to Barry what he’s always wanted to hear, and he feels empty inside. That was the moment… As selfish as it was that Barry wanted his parents, I think it’s more about ‘these two speedsters took away their life because of me and they deserve to have a chance at life. I can’t do this, I need to give them that chance.'”

“The Flash” will return for season 3 on the CW on October 4th.
