It’s been a good week for DC shows, as “Black Lightning” was officially picked up by the CW, and now Superman prequel series “Krypton” has officially been ordered to series by Syfy according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The network ordered a pilot for the series, and apparently NBCUniversal liked what they saw because they’ve decided to move forward with the show. Syfy also picked up an adaptation of the Image Comics graphic novel “Happy” which stars Chris Meloni.

As of right now only the “Krypton” pilot has been filmed, so the cast and crew are preparing for production on the series to begin. An exact release date has not been announced, but it looks like the show will likely premiere sometime early in 2018.

You can check out the official synopsis below.

“Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.”
