A female led Ghostbusters film isn’t the only thing on the horizon for the franchise. Sony is also developing another film in the Ghostbusters universe starring Channing Tatum and possibly Chris Pratt, directed by The Russo Brothers. Ivan Reitman recently confirmed the film while talking to Deadline.

“We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment,” Reitman told Deadline. “This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy. Paul Feig’s film will be the first version of that, shooting in June to come out in July 2016. He’s got four of the funniest women in the world, and there will be other surprises to come. The second film has a wonderful idea that builds on that. Drew will start writing and the hope is to be ready for the Russo Brothers’ next window next summer to shoot, with the movie coming out the following year. It’s just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies.”

Now the rumor is that the people behind the film also want to bring in Tatum’s real life buddy Chris Pratt. Pratt is a big name in Hollywood but the rumor is being driven more by the fact that he’s close to Tatum as opposed to the fact that he has name value. Paul Feig’s female driven Ghostbuster film is set to hit theaters next summer and according to Reitman he hopes that the next film in the franchise will start shooting next summer.
