The Rock Reveals Who He Wants To Play Shazam, Teases A Surprise DCEU Debut For Black Adam

The Rock was the highest paid actor of 2016, and 2017 has been another big year for him so far, and it’s only going to get bigger. He’s got a few big movies coming out, and at some point over the next few years The Rock’s Black Adam is going to join the DCEU.

It was recently revealed that both Black Adam and Shazam will be getting their own standalone films, but Shazam hasn’t been cast yet. Rock recently spoke to We Got This Covered, and he named Armie Hammer as someone he’d like to see play the hero.

“I’m gonna throw a name out here and I wanna see how the fans react to this. A guy who I met, and after I met him I was like ‘man that guy’s such a cool guy.’ He’s a lot bigger than I thought he would be. And when I walked away I remember telling our producer Hiram Garcia, who’s on the project too, I remember we both looked at each other and we were like ‘possibly Shazam?’ We’re like ‘yes.’ I’m not even gonna tell you his name, all I’m gonna say is Lone Ranger. I just remember meeting him and walking away going ‘man that guy would look great as Shazam opposite.’ And by the way he’s one of a handful.”

Armie Hammer has of course been teasing that he will possibly be playing the Green Lantern on social media for the last few months, but it’s far from confirmed at this point that he’ll be playing the character.

As far as when Black Adam will be making his debut in the DCEU, Rock indicated that there’s a big surprise coming.

“It’s definitely going to happen, sure,” The Rock told Fandango when asked for a status on his Black Adam movie. “We’ve had great conversations with Geoff Johns and everyone over at DC. It’s an exciting time right now for everyone at DC because they are in a process now where they are building out [their DC universe] really nicely. We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced.”
