“Power Rangers” was recently released on digital, DVD and Blu-Ray, and director Dean Israelite has been busy promoting the release.

The movie put a new spin on the Power Rangers mythos, which featured a new look for Goldar that was a pretty drastic departure from the look fans became familiar with during the character’s run in the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” TV series. Israelite recently spoke to Comicbook.com about what went into the creative process, and he said that he was trying to give the film its own aesthetic.

“Well, the honest answer is that I feel like we’ve just seen a gargoyle type monster so many times now since the show has started. And my goal, with the movie, was to really give Power Rangers its own aesthetic and its own language. And you’ll notice the each of the Zords, and the space ship, and Alpha 5, and even Zordon … they’re all very organic. All the shapes are very organic. They’re very alive. They’re biomechanical.”
