Spider-Man is all the rage right now thanks to the release of “Homecoming” which is set to hit theaters in just a few weeks, and fans are looking forward to seeing more of Spidey in the MCU in the future. For now Spider-Man has been confirmed for the next two Avengers film and a sequel to “Homecoming.”
The sequel to “Homecoming” will be the first film released after the untitled “Avengers 4” and Kevin Feige recently told iO9 that Spider-Man will play a big role after the film, as he will be the hand that guides fans back into a more grounded MCU after the Avengers battle Thanos.
“So much happens in [the 3rd and 4th Avengers movies], as you can imagine, and so much is affected by it that we felt what better person to hold your hand and lead you into the next incarnation of the MCU, in a grounded, realistic manner, than Peter Parker?” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told io9. “So, coming out two months after Untitled Avengers, [that’s what] much of what the next Spider-Man film will be about.”
So what will the MCU look like in Phase 4? Don’t expect any announcements regarding new films anytime soon, as Kevin Feige says Marvel will be keeping their plans close to the vest.
“I hope [the news comes] after that,” Feige said. “I think there will be certain elements that start to come about, not the least of which is the already announced release date of the next Spider-Man film. But other than that we’re going to keep it very close to the vest because this is really about focusing on the unprecedented conclusion to a 22-movie overarching narrative.”
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
