Star Wars fans around the world are patiently waiting for the release of “The Last Jedi” and anticipation for the film truly is at an all time high. Luke Skywalker didn’t have much of a presence in “The Force Awakens” but he will be one of the key characters in “The Last Jedi” and we’re finally going to figure out what it is that made him go into hiding.
There’s a lot of mystery surrounding Luke Skywalker and what he went through in the time between “Return of the Jedi” and “The Last Jedi.” We’ll be getting answers in the film, but Mark Hamill recently told Vanity Fair that he didn’t agree with the direction director Rian Johnson took Luke Skywalker when he first read the script.
“I at one point had to say to Rian, ‘I pretty much fundamentally disagree with every choice you’ve made for this character. Now, having said that, I have gotten it off my chest, and my job now is to take what you’ve created and do my best to realize your vision.’ ”
However, Hamill did say that he has the utmost respect for directors J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson, and that at the end of the day he is pleased with how “The Force Awakens” and “The Last Jedi” turned out.
He also admitted that his ideas perhaps aren’t the best.
“I have thousands of really terrible ideas I would love to share with you, among which you might—just law of averages—find a nugget of something and go, ‘That’s not as terrible as the other 35 you just told us.’ ”
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opens everywhere on December 15, 2017/
