Everyone was psyched when Sony announced they would be allowing Spider-Man to join the MCU and would be make a Spidey solo film in a partnership with Marvel. Unfortunately for Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield though, that meant they were unceremoniously removed from the Spider-Man universe.
MTV recently caught up with Marc Webb who was promoting “Limitless” and he spoke a little bit about his feelings on Spider-Man joining the MCU.

“I’m really psyched that Spider-Man is going back to the Marvel universe, I’m really excited to see that incarnation and Jon Watts is directing it I knew him from the old music video days and he’d done some really fantastic music videos so it’s really exciting.” Webb explained.

However he did admit that he was a little sad to let go of the reigns.

“It’s sad a little bit to surrender that in a way. But it’s as it must be I guess. I think there’s a huge capacity for reinvention of the realm of the Spider-Man universe. There’s a lot of different ways to interpret that character so I’m curious to see how that evolves.” Marc Webb told MTV

Webb also opened up about things he hoped to explore in the “The Amazing Spider-Man 3.” He mentioned Venom was a character he would have liked to bring into his film universe.

“There’s the man in the hat, this obscure character called The Gentleman, who gets the Sinister Six together. That would’ve been fun to play out. Venom, obviously I would’ve been curious to see.” Webb said.

Sad to see him and Garfield go, but well know Spider-Man joining the MCU was the right move for the character.
