Harrison Ford Assures Us All That We’ll Be Seeing Vintage Han Solo In ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Next month “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will introduce Star Wars to a whole new generation. The old cast will unite with a new cast to continue the saga and we can’t wait. But there was one line in the trailer that made the ears of fans perk up and it was delivered by Han Solo.

“It’s true. All of it. The dark side. The Jedi. They’re real.” Solo said in the trailer.

Naturally we all assumed that maybe this means the skeptic in Han Solo had been laid to rest. But during a recent interview Harrison Ford assured us all that that’s not the case.

“No, there’s not an abandoning of the character. He does not aspire to the position of Obi-‘Ben’ Kenobi, nor do I aspire to be some New Age Alec Guinness. His development is consistent with the character, and there are emotional elements which have occasioned his growth.” Ford told EW.

It sounds like Han Solo has definitely made some character progression. But the more things change the more they stay the same according to Harrison Ford.

“We spend a lot more time [in the movie] on his failure to master basic skills, like accounting. And accounting for his own behavior. There’s a lot of the rogue still left in Solo. Some things don’t change.”

There you have it folks. He’s still the same Han Solo we all know and love. Whether Han Solo survives the next Star Wars film remains to be seen. But even if he does bite the dust it won’t be the end of the character as a Han Solo anthology film is being planned and Harrison Ford has some advice for the next person that tries to fill Han Solo’s shoes.

I would say, ‘Talk to your director. Watch the movies. And welcome aboard. Make it your own.’” Harrison Ford said.

See Han Solo in action when “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.
