Ewan McGregor Confirms Once Again That He Wants To Make An Obi-Wan Film

Star Wars is without a doubt all the rage right now, and Disney has big plans for the future of the franchise. Fans are desperately hoping that the future plans include an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone movie, but so far no official announcements have been made.

Ewan McGregor gets asked about possibly reprising the Obi-Wan Kenobi role quite frequently, and he always says it’s something he would love to do. McGregor reiterated his feelings on the subject recently during an interview with EW, however he said he has yet to receive an offer.

“There’s no official offer, and I haven’t met them about it or anything. But I’ve always said that I’d be happy to do it if they wanted to do it. It would be a good segue between the last episode of the prequels and the new episodes. I think they’ve got films to make until the 2020s, so I don’t think it’s going to happen soon if it happens at all.”

A Han Solo film is already in production and a Boba Fett film is believed to be on the way, and Kathleen Kennedy recently told MTV that an announcement for the next anthology film could be coming this summer.

“I think we’re getting close. My hope would be [to announce] sometime around the summer. I never want to predict the creative process because it is its own thing, so we’re in the midst of those discussions right now.”

Most people seem to agree that a movie needs to be made about Obi-Wan’s adventures, or lack thereof, between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope.” Will the announcement be coming this summer? That remains to be seen, but Disney would be foolish not to make an Obi-Wan standalone film considering the fact that the movie seems to be in high demand.
