“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is set to hit theaters in December, and with “The Force Awakens” having been released two years ago, fans have been waiting a long time for answers about Rey’s lineage.
Rey’s last name has been the subject of much debate among Star Wars fans, so hopefully we’ll be getting those answers when “The Last Jedi” is released.
Rey has become one of the central characters in the Star Wars saga, but it turns out that Daisy Ridley almost ended up playing the same character with a different name. During a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Ridley talked about her experience shooting “The Force Awakens” and she said that J.J. Abrams told her the character was originally named Keera.
“No, no, he told me it was meant to be Keera. And then, when we were already shooting in Abu Dhabi, he told me that he was thinking of going with Rey, which I thought was frickin’ awesome. But because I had to audition so much and everything, I never really had a conversation with J.J. about it until I had read the script.”
When we last left Rey at the end of “The Force Awakens” she was handing off a lightsaber to Luke Skywalker, and we’ll see what happens next when “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opens in theaters on December 15, 2017.
