Hugh Jackman retired from the role of Wolverine earlier this year, but his legacy will live on. Jackman’s portrayal is considered by many to be iconic, and even though he was taller than his comic book counterpart, most people seem to agree that he nailed the look.

One of the key components when it came to bringing Wolverine to life on the big screen was getting his hair right.

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Kevin Feige talked about how he repeatedly asked the stylist on the set of “X-Men” to make Jackman’s hair bigger, and the stylist “eventually went ‘Fine!’ and did a ridiculous version,” Feige recalls. “If you go back and look at it,” he admits, “he’s got big-ass hair in that first movie. But that’s Wolverine!”

The X-Men films haven’t embraced the comic book look quite as much as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has, but Kevin Feige says that the comic book look is always something worth attempting.

“I never liked the idea that people weren’t attempting things because of the potential for them to look silly,” he says. “Anything in a comic book has the potential to look silly. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to make it look cool.”

So there you have it, you can thank Kevin Feige for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine hair.
