This weekend is going to be a big one for fans of the “Arrowverse” because San Diego International Comic Con is set to take place, and the “Arrowverse” is set to have a big presence at the convention. It’s likely that we’ll be hearing some big announcements regarding the upcoming seasons of shows such as “Arrow” and “The Flash” and hopefully we’ll be learning more about which villains the heroes will be fighting in the fall.

A casting notice for “Arrow” season 6 recently surfaced online, and it revealed some big hints as to who the villain might be. Now executive producer Wendy Mericle has revealed even more details about the villain, or villains, who Team Arrow will be facing in season 6, and she says it will be something fans have never seen before.

“As usual, every season we want to try to up the stakes and do something different,” EP Wendy Mericle told EW. “This will be something we’ve never seen before. The villain will be hopefully as dynamic and as interesting as the ones we’ve had in the past. These people, or this person, won’t just be somebody that’s a thorn in Oliver’s side, but it’ll effect the whole team personally and very directly.”

It’s pretty much been all but confirmed that Helix will be returning in the new season, and Mericle didn’t turn down the possibility of the group acting as the big bad for the new season.

“You never know,” Mericle says. “They are still in the wind. We don’t like to leave those threads dangling.”

One thing’s for sure, we can’t wait to see what happens at Comic Con on Saturday.

“Arrow” will return on Thursday, October 12.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice.

As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Deputy Mayor Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), and his new recruits, street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) and meta-human Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy).

Oliver has finally solidified and strengthened his crime-fighting team only to have it threatened when unexpected enemies from his past return to Star City, forcing Oliver to rethink his relationship with each member of his “family”.
