“The Flash” recently wrapped up season 4 this week, and the finale ended with a cliffhanger that’s bound to keep fans talking until season 5 arrives.
Season 4 went in a different direction compared to its predecessors, because for the first time another speedster wasn’t positioned as the main threat to Team Flash.
Instead, Team Flash faced off against The Thinker and he proved to be a formidable foe. Now it looks like some new details have surfaced that may provide some insight in regards to who will be the big bad of season 5.
That Hashtag Show reports that the show is currently looking to cast “Desmond Paull” who is described as, “a metahuman who, after a mysterious interaction with dark matter, was given not only immortality but also the gift to disable other meta-human powers. He blames metas for everything that has gone wrong in his life and because of that, his mission is to wipe Central City free of them in order to silence his own anguish.”
The report goes on to speculate that the description sounds a lot like David Hersch a.k.a. Cicada.
Cicada was created by Geoff Johns and first appeared in an issue of “The Flash” in 2001. He murdered his own wife and got his powers when he was struck by lightning. When he was struck he saw a vision of his wife’s resurrection and later became a cult leader.
As of right now there’s no word on who might be playing the villain, but it’s expected that more details will be revealed at San Diego International Comic Con in July.
