Next month “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is set to hit theaters, and anticipation for the film is at an all time high. Fans were thrilled to see Spider-Man join the MCU last year, and there is a lot of hope in regards to his future with the franchise.
There have been mixed messages about Spidey’s future, as Sony executive Amy Pascal noted at CinemaCon a few months ago that the character could leave the MCU after the “Homecoming” sequel.
“One of the things that I think is so amazing about this experience is that you don’t have studios deciding to work together to make a film very often. In fact, it may never happen again–after we do the sequel [to Spider-Man: Homecoming].”
As of right now Kevin Feige has confirmed that Tom Holland is set for the “Homecoming” sequel and the next two Avengers movies, but during a recent interview with AlloCine, Tom Holland confirmed that he’s set for a third Spider-Man solo movie under the Marvel Studios banner.
“Yes, there will be Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3. Now, you know, sorry, Marvel, oops!”
Holland’s Spider-Man may be young now, but the actor is very much looking forward to growing up with the character.
“There is still plenty of room to see Peter grow up Parker and especially Spider-Man in the next two movies, and at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the story is definitely not complete, I’m really looking forward to exploring how it will grow, [and to] see what will happen after puberty. Yes, [they’re] going to be exciting movies.”
