Kirsten Dunst played Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, and for many fans Raimi’s films are still the quintessential version of Spider-Man on film. But now Tom Holland is trying to create his own legacy as Spidey, and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” was released to rave reviews recently.
Dunst doesn’t appear to have any interest in seeing the film, and a few months ago during an interview she made it clear that she thinks the new movie is nothing more than a cash grab.
“We made the best ones, so who cares? I’m like, “You make it all you want.” They’re just milking that cow for money. It’s so obvious. You know what I mean?’
She later followed up by saying that she would rather be in the Raimi films than the new Spider-Man films.
“I don’t care. Everyone likes our Spider-Man. C’mon, am I right or what? Listen, I’d rather be in the first ones than the new ones.”
During a recent interview with Movie’n’co UK, Holland was asked about her comments, and he said she’s entitled to her opinion, and he doesn’t hold it against her.
“You know, she’s entitled to her own opinion and I’m not one to judge at all. I definitely am not doing this movie for the money,” Holland said via HH. “I mean, it’s a job that I think anyone would do regardless of what you were getting paid, you know? All I know is I had the greatest time on this movie and I absolutely loved it and, you know, if she doesn’t want to go and see it, I don’t really care. I don’t dislike her in any way for what she said and she’s entitled to her own opinion, so it’s all cool.”
