This week’s episode of “The Flash” was one of the most interesting episodes of the series so far. Barry Allen traveled to the year 2024, and there we met future versions of Cisco, HR, Joe, Killer Frost, Julian and of course Barry Allen himself.

The episode was directed by series regular Tom Cavanagh who has played various incarnations of Harrison Wells over the years. Cavanagh told Variety that he has enjoyed switching things up with his character, and he brought his experience to the table while directing stars like Grant Gustin and Carlos Valdes.

“That’s part of the aspect of this episode that I really, really liked. We see a whole different world. We got to mess some stuff up. I’ve played five or six or seven different versions of myself since the show started but most of the cast has just played one or two versions of their character. In this one, I think it was great for them to pull out of the hat another version of themselves. I think both Grant and Carlos Valdes in particular were exceptional in this episode. They’re very talented to begin with, but then you add these different layers you kind of marvel at their abilities.”

“The Flash” will return next week with “I Know Who You Are.”

“VIBE FACES OFF AGAINST KILLER FROST – Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team meet Tracy Brand (guest star Anne Dudek), a scientist, who may be the key to stopping Savitar. Unfortunately, Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) is also after Tracy so Team Flash must battle their old friend, which proves to be particularly difficult for Cisco (Carlos Valdes). Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Cecile’s (guest star Danielle Nicolet) relationship takes a big turn. Hanelle Culpepper directed the episode written by Bronwen Clark & Joshua V. Gilbert (#320). Original airdate 5/2/2017.”
