Executive producer Marc Guggenheim announced Friday that production has officially underway on the fourth season finale of “Arrow.” The story was created by Greg Berlanti with the teleplay being done by Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim. It will be directed by John Behring and the episode is titled “Schism.”

Season four has been a big season for “Arrow” as the team recently lost one of their own in the episode “Eleven Fifty-Nine.”

SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU’RE NOT CAUGHT UP

Team Arrow said goodbye to Laurel Lance after she was murdered at the hands of Damien Darhk. Marc Guggenheim answered some questions after a press screening and he said that the death will have a huge impact on the team going forward.

“It was a shocking thing for us to process and to write the aftermath. We really wanted to make sure we did it in a way that was really honorable and gave us space to honor all the characters’ various reactions to it. The episodes that we’ve written in the aftermath are devastating and they’re meant to be. That’s what we wanted. We wanted to explore that and to really have everybody feel the impact of this loss, because it is significant.”

The death of Laurel Lance will no doubt be a dark cloud that looms over the team from here on out as everyone will be dealing with the death in a very different way. The finale is titled “Schism” which seems to hint that Team Arrow will be divided at the end of this season. Or it could just mean that there’s more Olicity drama on the way.

We’ll find out when the “Arrow” season four finale airs May 25 on the CW at 8pm EST.
