Jurassic World Director On Why Jake Johnson Isn’t In The Sequel

“Jurassic World” was a huge hit and the sequel “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” is currently filming in Hawaii. The sequel will see franchise star Jeff Goldblum make his return, but one star who won’t be returning is Jake Johnson.

In “Jurassic World” Jake Johnson played a character named Lowery Cruthers who worked at the park and mostly served as comic relief. Colin Trevorrow directed the last film, but he’s only working as a producer and writer this time around, and during a recent chat with Den of Geek he said that Johnson’s character just didn’t fit into the story, but that doesn’t mean he won’t return in the future.

“He’s not in Jurassic World 2 for the same reason that any other actor would be excluded from a movie. Unless we can find a genuine, organic way to make it not seem like he’s just in it because he was a great character in a previous film. It doesn’t mean he’ll never be back, and I’ve had conversations with almost all of the actors going back to the previous films about how important their legacies are to these movies and yet also how important it is to continuously change and evolve them into something new.”

Trevorrow also noted that fans should expect the franchise to go in a bit of a different direction with “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” which he says is much more character based.

“Because Jurassic is not a forever franchise in a traditional way. If it’s going to be something that continues to exist it has to be earned on a movie by movie basis. The reason why I didn’t want to direct it myself, why I brought in J.A. Bayona and why in our screenwriting decisions we’ve taken it into a very different direction that’s much more character based than previous films, is all from that need to constantly evolve and change.”

“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” will open in theaters on June 22, 2018.

New Jurassic World 2 Set Photo Shows Classic Jurassic Park Vehicle

“Jurassic World 2” is set to hit theaters next year, and it was recently announced that the film will officially be titled “Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom.” The movie is being filmed in Hawaii, and recently a classic vehicle from the original “Jurassic Park” was spotted making its way to the set.

“Jurassic World” and other installments in the franchise certainly haven’t been shy about referencing the original film, and it looks like “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” will be giving fans another reason to feel nostalgic. Jurassic Park Motor Pool recently posted a photo from an anonymous source, and it shows one of the classic Explorers from “Jurassic Park” en route to Hawaii.

Not much is known about the plot for the sequel at the moment, but Chris Pratt has said that it will be darker and scarier than the original.

We’ll find out exactly what that means when “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” arrives in theaters on June 22, 2018.

Located off the coast of Costa Rica, the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinos to run amok. Now, it’s up to a former military man and animal expert (Chris Pratt) to use his special skills to save two young brothers and the rest of the tourists from an all-out, prehistoric assault.

Jurassic World 2 Will Be Darker And Scarier Than The First Film

“Jurassic World” was a huge hit when it was released a few years ago, and the film absolutely dominated the box office. Now Chris Pratt and company will be returning for “Jurassic World 2” and it sounds like the sequel is going to raise the stakes.

The film will be directed by J.A. Bayona, and star Chris Pratt had nothing but good things to say about his work. During a recently interview with Screen Rant, Pratt praised Bayona, and he noted that the sequel will be scarier and darker.

“Aw man, J.A. Bayona? Do you know that filmmaker? He’s a remarkable filmmaker. If you haven’t seen The Impossible or A Monster Calls, I mean he’s really visually masterful. Deep emotions and suspense. I think it’s going to be a scarier version. A little bit darker and will continue to expand and carry the story forward in a way that is really unexpected and you wouldn’t have imagined.”

Right now not much is known about the plot and where it will take the overall story, but it sounds like the people behind the film are interested in trying new things, so hopefully they knock it out of the park.

“Jurassic World 2” is set to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
