Supergirl Will Be Joining The CW For Season 2

There have been a lot of rumors going around in regards to what’s going to happen with a second season for “Supergirl.” It looks like Melissa Benoist will indeed be putting the suit back on for another season as EW is reporting that “Supergirl” will be moving from CBS to the CW for season 2.

This seems like the right move for “Supergirl” as the CW is already home to several beloved DC Comics shows such as “The Flash,” “Arrow,” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” Earlier this year Grant Gustin made a guest appearance as The Flash on “Supergirl” and Gustin was very enthusiastic when asked about the possibility of doing more crossovers in the future.

“That’s in the cards at this point,” Gustin told Entertainment Weekly when speaking about the crossover. “The whole point of us doing this crossover is setting up the fact that maybe next year we can cross over all of them.”

Gustin made those comments back when “Supergirl” was still on CBS but from a story standpoint the writers have already found a way to bring the two shows together. Although Supergirl and The Flash exist in different worlds on television, as we saw in the crossover episode, Barry found a way to access her world by using Eobard Thawne’s tachyon device.

“[Barry] was the door, the gateway,” producer Greg Berlanti told The Hollywood Reporter back in March. “He’s the only one who had the capacity to open that door, and hopefully now it’s [staying] open.

It’s also being reported that the show will likely be moving from Los Angeles to Vancouver in an effort to cut costs. The CW would not comment on a possible move for the show, but if that report turns out to be true, the move could be quite significant because “The Flash” and “Arrow” also film in Vancouver. If “Supergirl” does make the move to Vancouver it would be much easier to integrate the character and her world into the Arrowverse.

Update: It’s now been confirmed that the show will be moving to Vancouver.
