The cast and crew of “Arrow” are back at work on the set, and anticipation for season 6 is at an all time high. The new season will be different thanks to the fact that Oliver Queen’s five year island story arc has wrapped up, and Stephen Amell is hoping to see a new side of Oliver in season 6.

During a panel at Nashville Heroes & Villains FanFest, Stephen Amell talked about his hopes for Oliver in the new season, and he said he’s hoping to see him become more similar to the Oliver Queen from the comics.

“Obviously the Oliver Queen that a lot of people know from the comics, if they were familiar with that character before they were familiar with my iteration of the character, is a lot more, I guess, idealistic.” Amell said via Comicbook. “Politically driven a little bit, and funny. He smiles.”

Fans who read Green Arrow comics know that Oliver Queen has quite the sense of humor which is a trait that he does not share with his TV counterpart. However, it looks like we could potentially be seeing a less serious Oliver Queen when the show returns in the fall.

“The character that we met in season one had just gone through a horrific series of events. Now he’s a little bit more well adjusted.” Amell revealed. “I would hope that as that happens, that the character still gets to evolve a little bit. I think that would push him more towards the areas that people are familiar with in the comics. A sense of humor. A lightheartedness.”

“Arrow” will return for season 6 on Thursday, October 12.
