Roy Harper was introduced in “Arrow” season 1, and by the time season 2 ended he was a full fledged member of Team Arrow known as Arsenal. But Harper was also written off the show in season 3, and Thea Queen took his spot on the team when she became Speedy.

Fans like to debate over which sidekick was a better fit for the Green Arrow during a recent panel at Salt Lake City Comic Con, and he picked Arsenal.

“The cross-country tour of people making me choose between Willa Holland and Colton Haynes continues,” Amell said via Comicbook. “Okay, I’m going to say Arsenal and here’s why — because Speedy can always still be my family sidekick without necessarily being my sidekick in the field. She will always be my sister before she’s my sidekick.”

Amell also noted that if Roy Harper wasn’t Arsenal then he wouldn’t have a reason to care about the character.

It remains to be seen if Roy Harper will be suiting up as Arsenal in season 6, but it has been confirmed that Colton Haynes will be returning to the show at some point in the new season.

“Arrow” will return on Thursday, October 12.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice.

As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Deputy Mayor Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), and his new recruits, street-savvy Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) and meta-human Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy).

Oliver has finally solidified and strengthened his crime-fighting team only to have it threatened when unexpected enemies from his past return to Star City, forcing Oliver to rethink his relationship with each member of his “family”.
