Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sets New Opening Day Record With $120.5 Million

The force is strong when it comes to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and the movie’s power to draw big at the box office. The movie is already crushing records as far as ticket sales go and it’s only been out for one day. Analysts were predicting that the film would cross the $100 million mark on opening day and it far surpassed that number by raking in $120.5 million.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” crushed the previous record which was held by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” which made $91.1 million on its opening day in 2011. “Jurassic World” currently holds the record for highest grossing opening weekend with $208 million, but estimates and analysts are predicting that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will destroy that record as the film is on track to bring in $225 million this weekend.

The hype is at an all time high for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and it seems to be living up to it. The film has been earning rave reviews from both critics as well as fans and it currently has a 95% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
