Scarlett Johansson joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Widow in “Iron Man 2” and she’s been a key player in the MCU ever since. Black Widow has had some memorable moments in the MCU, still it’s hard to forget the first time she put on the suit in “Iron Man 2” and revealed herself to be more than just Tony Stark’s assistant.
Johansson’s Black Widow suit has been a hot topic among fans over the years, for better or worse, and the actress recently talked about her initial reaction to the suit on “Inside The Actor’s Studio” on Bravo.
“Who wants to get into something like that. You just think, ‘Oh God, really?’ Couldn’t it have like, I don’t know, some sort of a little peplum skirt or something like that. I mean, this thing is so like, there you are, but it was also everything it represented. I mean, the character was so beloved. Obviously she’s kind of the first Marvel super heroine. She’s an iconic character. And I didn’t know how people were going to take that. The part had already been recast and maybe they’d already accepted the other actor in that part. I mean, what the hell was I doing? It was daunting.”
After working her way through several Marvel films, Scarlett seems to be more comfortable in the suit nowadays, but it’s not hard to see why she might have been a little hesitant to put it on in the first place.
You can catch Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in “Avengers: Infinity War” which will arrive in theaters on May 4, 2018.
