The Release Date For ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Has Been Pushed Back, But The Release Date For Spider-Man’s Solo Movie Has Been Pushed Up

Uh oh, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little while longer to get answers to our questions about a familiar galaxy far, far way. The yet to be titled “Star Wars: Episode VIII” was originally set for a release date of May 26, 2017. But it was announced today that the film will now be released on December 15, 2017. This means with “Rogue One” coming out in December of 2016, “Episode VIII” will be the third December release in a row for the franchise. Considering the fact that “The Force Awakens” absolutely destroyed the box office with its December release date it seems like this is a good move on behalf of Disney. Unfortunately the waiting isn’t going to be fun for the rest of us.

However, there is some good news. Sony’s new solo Spider-Man film under the MCU banner has been moved up to July 7, 2017. So we’re going to have to wait a little while longer to see how the adventures of Rey, Finn, Poe and company continue. But we’re going to be seeing Spider-Man swinging through New York City a few weeks earlier than we expected.

Disney also made another move with the upcoming “Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” movie. That film has now shifted to the original release date for “Episode VIII” meaning it will hit theaters on May 26, 2017. Continuing with the shifts, the upcoming “Jumanji” reboot is now set to hit theaters on Spider-Man’s original release date of July 28, 2017.
