Principal Photography Begins On ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’, New Announcement Trailer Released

It’s official, cameras have started rolling for “Star Wars: Episode VIII.” The film which is set to be released on December 15, 2017 officially began principal photography today.

In order to celebrate this milestone in the “Star Wars” saga, a new teaser trailer was released. The clip picks up right where “The Force Awakens” left off as we see Luke Skywalker’s face. From there the tone changes drastically as Rian Johnson quietly says “Cut.” from the director’s chair.

Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which began principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016.

Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.  New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

There’s already a lot of hype behind “Star Wars: Episode VIII” as J.J. Abrams has said the script is so good that he regrets turning down the chance to direct the film. As far as the tone goes, John Boyega has said that this time around the script is much darker when compared to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Ewan McGregor is also rumored to be making a cameo as a force ghost Obi-Wan Kenobi.
