“Episode VIII” isn’t set to hit theaters until 2017, but the internet is already flooded with rumors regarding the film’s plot, and various other details.
In “The Force Awakens” we were introduced to Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia, who happens to be obsessed with his grandfather Darth Vader. Making Star Wars reports that Kylo Ren will be taking his obsession to the next level in “Episode VIII” and he will be looking a little more Darth Vader-esque in the upcoming film.
Ren will reportedly be wearing a Darth Vader like cape in “Episode VIII.” The cape will not have a chain clasp like Darth Vader’s did, but it’s said to be similar to the one that Vader wore in “Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”
It’s not clear at this point whether or not the cape is something that Kylo made to look similar to Vader’s or if he somehow procured a cape that belonged to Darth Vader.
It will be interesting to see what the backstory is behind the cape. As we saw in “The Force Awakens” Kylo Ren got his hands on Darth Vader’s helmet, so it’s certainly possible that he could have done the same thing with Vader’s cape somehow.
The report also notes that Kylo Ren’s under-robes will look similar to the black outfit Luke wore in “Return of the Jedi” and his mask will be mostly the same, aside from a few tweaks.
