Warning: mild “Spider-Man: Homecoming” SPOILERS ahead.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” hit theaters last week, and the film is crushing the box office while getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The movie had plenty of surprises and easter eggs stashed throughout, and there was even a reference to Miles Morales.
In “Homecoming” Donald Glover plays Aaron Davis, aka Prowler, aka the uncle of Miles Morales. Davis mentions that he has a nephew in the film, which is an obvious nod to Miles. During a recent interview with Kevin Feige, IGN asked the Marvel Studios head if we’ll be seeing Miles, and he seemed unsure of the character’s status.
“Just like we referenced Dr. Stephen Strange in The Winter Soldier, we wanted to give that homage that he’s out there in the MCU somewhere. If and when we see him, I don’t know.”
At the moment Miles seems more popular than ever, and he’s set to be the main character in Sony’s upcoming animated Spider-Man movie. Whether or not we get a live action adaptation at some point remains to be seen, but at least we now know that he exists in the MCU.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is in theaters now.
