“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will be released later this year and anticipation for the film is at an all time high. The film is set to introduce new characters into the Star Wars canon but yesterday EW confirmed that a classic villain would be returning as well.

It’s been confirmed that Darth Vader will indeed be a part of the film, but that’s not all. Today EW confirmed via an interview with Kathleen Kennedy that James Earl Jones will be returning to once again provide the voice for the iconic character. Jones is the man who made Darth Vader’s voice one of the most recognized voices in the history of film and at 85 years old he’ll be adding some more dialogue to Darth Vader’s plethora of memorable quotes.

“Rogue One” will take place roughly 19 years after “Revenge of the Sith” and at this point in the timeline it’s said that the Rebels aren’t familiar with Darth Vader and he’s more of a legend rather than a prominent figure.

According to director Gareth Edwards the Rebels barely speak of Darth Vader and most people within the Empire only know of his existence, but there is a feeling that there is a dark power within the Empire.

Darth Vader will return to the big screen when “Rogue One” hits theaters, but don’t expect him to be a central character. Kathleen Kennedy noted that Vader will only appear when the time is right.

“He will be in the movie sparingly,” she said. “But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large.”

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” hits theaters on December 16, 2016.
