Fans of the “Indiana Jones” series should be excited to hear that both Harrison Ford and Steve Spielberg will be returning to the franchise for an untitled fifth entry. The movie is set to be released on July 19, 2019 with Spielberg directing and Ford back in his signature role.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.” Disney chairman Alan Horn said in announcement.
The film will mark the first “Indiana Jones” adventure since “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” was released in 2008. The film tried to introduce Shia LeBouf as the son of Indiana Jones but that didn’t go over so well with audiences. LeBouf wasn’t mentioned in the announcement, so it doesn’t look like he’ll be returning. But at 73 years old there’s only so much Harrison Ford can do, so it’s likely that this movie will be introducing some younger characters.
Disney has had a lot of success with the Marvel films and now Star Wars. They didn’t elaborate on any further plans for Indiana Jones beyond this film, but we’re willing to bet they’ve got a few tricks up their sleeve.
