Superhero movies have been all the rage over the past few years and they are absolutely dominating the box office. Fans are flocking to the theaters to see films based on comic book characters, but it doesn’t look like fans are getting everything they want.

Although characters such as Batman, Superman, Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man and others have had their time to shine, female fronted superhero films are few and far between. DC will be trying to break the mold with “Wonder Woman” in June, and Marvel is currently developing a “Captain Marvel” film starring Brie Larson.

It looks like female fronted superhero films could become more common in the future, as a recent Fandango poll surveyed 1,000 people and 92% of them said they want to see more films featuring female superheroes.

According to the data from the poll, 87% wish Hollywood would make more movies featuring female superheroes. Another 80% claimed Gal Gadot’s appearance as Wonder Woman was one of their favorite parts of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” It was also noted that 65% of the people taking the poll expressed excitement over the fact that a female (Patty Jenkins) directed “Wonder Woman.”

There’s a lot of pressure riding on “Wonder Woman” not only for the film to deliver a critical success for the DCEU, but people will also be watching the box office numbers closely to determine if female fronted superhero films can become a hot commodity in Hollywood.

“Wonder Woman” is currently tracking for a $65+ million opening, so if you’re one of the people who wants more female fronted superhero films, you should definitely purchase your tickets and send a message to the suits in Hollywood.

“Wonder Woman” opens everywhere June 2.

Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that’s raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.
