Why Deathstroke Can’t Appear On Arrow Right Now

For many years fans waited patiently for Deathstroke to make his return on “Arrow” and it finally happened in season 5. Luckily Slade Wilson has also received a decent amount of screen time in season 6 as well, and a few weeks ago he was thrust into the spotlight with his very own two part episode.

The Deathstroke-centric episodes received a lot of praise, but unfortunately it sounds like Manu Bennett’s Deathstroke is once again off limits.

“Arrow” executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently spoke to Discussing Film at ACE Comic Con, and he revealed that they’ve been told Deathstroke can’t be used on the show because DC has plans for him on the big screen.

“These are DC’s characters, we’re just renting them ya know, so we use the characters that they tell us we can use when we can use them, and we work around whatever limitations that places us.”

“For a time they were saying ‘you can’t use Deathstroke’, and that changed and we were able to have Slade Wilson back on the show, and now we’re back to ‘you can’t use him’. They’re working on the feature film version, it really is sort of now that you’ve got obviously Slade, spoiler alert, Deathstroke appears at the end of the Justice League movie.”

This is certainly not the news that fans of “Arrow” want to hear. It seems like we just got Deathstroke back, and now we have to say goodbye to him all over again.

It’s unfortunate to say the least.

Hopefully Joe Manganiello’s Slade Wilson will be able to fill the Deathstroke-sized hole in out hearts over the next few years.
