DC’s Diane Nelson Talks About Why DC’s Movies And TV Shows Aren’t Connected

Everyone’s trying to do the shared universe thing now that Marvel has knocked it out of the park. DC is trying to launch their own cinematic universe but they’ve taken a different approach when it comes to TV. DC has kept their TV and film universes separate which seems to have garnered a mixed reaction from fans.

DC Entertainment Boss Diane Nelson recently spoke to Variety and she explained why the company decided to treat film and TV as two separate entities.

“We’re so talent driven,” Nelson said. She added that trying to connect everything “could end up handcuffing our creators into trying to work with the same storyline or force them to hold back characters or introduce certain characters. Ultimately it hinders the ability for someone like (showrunner) Bruno Heller to come in and create ‘Gotham.’ “

Makes sense. Still, it’s a shame that we’ll never see Gran Gustin’s Flash or Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow on the big screen.
