DC Reportedly Developing Movie Starring Deathstroke

Deathstroke is definitely a popular character, and originally it seemed that he was set to step into the spotlight in Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman film. Affleck was originally going to write, direct and star in the film, but plans have changed and Matt Reeves has since stepped in to direct, and the story has changed.

But that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing Deathstroke on the big screen.

The Wrap reports that “The Raid” director Gareth Evans is in talks to direct and write a Deathstroke standalone film with Joe Manganiello in the lead role.

Evans reportedly passed on the chance to direct “Justice League Dark” but he impressed Warner Bros. when he pitched his idea for a Deathstroke film and now the project is moving forward.

Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap was asked if the movie will be attached to the DCEU or if it will be a standalone film, and he noted that it’s to be determined.

Warner Bros. originally had big plans for the DCEU, but it seems that the studio is looking to branch out in a different direction in the years to come. The Joker is already established in the DCEU with Jared Leto’s version, but an origin film based on The Joker is also reportedly in development.

We’ll have to wait and see how Deathstroke fits into the bigger picture. Stay tuned for more details.
