When it comes to Batfleck, the rumors just never seem to stop. When Ben Affleck first signed on to play Batman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” the casting was seen as controversial, but he was later praised after the film was released.

Fans have been hoping to see more of Ben Affleck’s Batman, but development on a standalone Batman film has been slow going and Affleck has said several times that he’s trying to get the script right. Affleck later stepped down as director of the film, and the new director Matt Reeves is reportedly dropping the script Ben put together.

It’s been rumored a few times now that Ben Affleck has been wanting to step down from the role of Batman following the release of “Justice League” and now the rumor mill is heating up once again.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to gracefully usher Ben Affleck’s Batman out of the DCEU in one of the upcoming DC films.

How and/or when this might happen is unknown, but THR notes that, “it would be wise to bet against Affleck starring inĀ The Batman.”

Matt Reeves has acknowledged that he has plans for a Batman trilogy, and Ben Affleck is set to turn 45 in August, which would mean he would be in his mid 50s by the time the trilogy wraps up.

Robert Downey Jr. has been able to continue to hold strong as Iron Man at the age of 52, but then again he’s opted to work ensemble films over the past few years rather than carry the weight of an entire Iron Man movie on his shoulders.

Ben Affleck is older than his “Justice League” counterparts with Henry Cavill, 34, The Flash Ezra Miller, 24, Jason Momoa, 37, and Gal Gadot at 32. It’s speculated that the studio may be looking to cast a fresh face to take on the cape and cowl.

Whether that means Ben Affleck’s Batman would be killed off, or simply pass the cape and cowl off tp someone else is unknown. There’s also the possibility that the studio could just recast as they’ve done in the past with transitions from Michael Keaton to Val Kilmer, and Kilmer to George Clooney.

This certainly isn’t the first time that a story like this has surfaced, and Affleck has denied that he’s leaving the role in the past, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
